Thank you for your interest in Front Line EMS Fire Camp 2025! This weeklong training offers an immersive wildland fire incident experience, equipping you for your first deployment or enhancing your expertise if you've deployed before.
Event Schedule
- May 3rd: Optional S-130/RT-130 and Pack Test (Free)
- May 4th – 9th: Main Wildland Fire Medical Training Camp
Arrival Guidelines:
- Attending both the May 3rd RT-130 and May 4th – 9th Fire Camp: Arrive on May 2nd (required if flying in, optional if driving). Dinner will be provided to those attending the entire week.
- Attending only the May 4–9 Fire Camp: Arrive the evening of May 3rd for check-in (whether Flying or Driving)
- Attending only the May 3rd training (S-130/RT-130 & Pack Test): You may arrive the morning of May 3rd unless flying in, in which case you should arrive on May 2nd.
- May 10 – Check Out and Travel (after 8:00 a.m. for flights)
Flight Scheduling:
Arrival:
To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, please follow these flight scheduling guidelines:
- For all training: Flights should be scheduled to arrive the day or evening before your training begins.
- If attending both the May 3rd training and the May 4th – 9th Fire Camp: Schedule your arrival for May 2nd.
- If attending only the May 4th – 9th Fire Camp: Schedule your arrival for May 3rd.
- If attending only the May 3rd training (S-130/RT-130 & Pack Test): Schedule your arrival for May 2nd.
Departure:
- If attending Fire Camp through May 9th, schedule your departing flight for May 10th, after 8:00 AM (exceptions may be made if necessary).
Transportation from and to the airport:
Front Line EMS will be arranging travel to and from the airport to the training site at no cost to the attendees.
Cost & Inclusions:
Fire Camp training is provided for free to all attendees. Front Line EMS covers training, equipment, overhead, and food delivery fees. However, participants are responsible for part of the cost of food:
- $260 (includes RT-130/Pack Test on May 3rd) – May 3rd – 9th
- $225 (excludes RT-130/Pack Test) – May 4th – 9th
Training days will be so busy that there is no time for obtaining food other than the catering being provided. Glenns Ferry, ID also has limited food options but there is a dollar store and a small grocery store. Plan on arriving as self-sufficient as possible other than food. Please advise of any dietary restrictions or needs ahead of time.
Meals: $35/day for 3 meals + $15 for dinner on arrival evening (non-refundable after April 26th).
Participant Requirements
Before attending the May 3rd – 9th RT-130 + Fire Camp, all participants must have:
- Completed the following online or in-person courses:
- S-130 (Online portion. Field day included in May 3rd Training)
- S-190
- L-180

- A valid EMT/AEMT/Paramedic/RN/PA/NP/MD license in compliance with the appropriate EMS state licensing authority.
Before attending the May 4th – 9th Fire Camp, all participants must have in addition to the above:
- An RT-130 and Pack Test that is valid for the 2025 Wildland Fire Season
Front Line EMS will host S-130/RT-130 training and the pack test on May 3, 2025, on the first day of camp.
Failure to complete the Pack Test on May 3rd (or at a second attempt the following morning), will be grounds for dismissal from the remaining of the fire camp week. No refunds will be possible at this point.

Wildland Fire-Related Gear:
It is strongly preferred for you to arrive with at least 1 set of “Greens and Yellows”. These are highly preferred to be worn during the camp for realism and setting the standard but we are willing to make exceptions if there is no way for you to obtain for camp. Below is a list of possible places to source these items. These are required for any wildland fire deployment.
Greens and Yellows:
Boots: Requirements for boots on wildland fires is as follows, “Personnel assigned to wildland fires must wear a minimum of 8-inch-high, lace-type, exterior-leather work boots with melt-resistant, lug soles. The 8-inch height requirement is measured from the bottom of the boot heel to the top of the boot.”

Arrival & Check-In
- Early Arrival (May 2, 2025, after 2:00 PM) For anyone flying in for RT-130 class on May 3rd
- RT-130 Training Check-In (May 3, 2025, 07:30 – 08:00 AM)
- Fire Camp Check-In (May 3, 2025, 17:00 – 19:00 PM)
In the days leading up to camp, you will receive a Resource Order (RO) – which is your entry pass for camp. Print this document and bring it with you for check-in on the 3rd
Meals
Meals will be provided from the evening of May 3rd (or May 2nd for RT-130 trainees) through the morning of May 10th. You will not have time to prepare personal food. Though snacks are provided, you can bring prepackaged items as you desire.
If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, inform us when you sign up, and we will accommodate you as best as possible. Meals include:
- Breakfast
- Sack lunch
- Snacks
- Hot dinner
- Water stations for bottle refills
A Family Dollar store is within walking distance for additional purchases.
Camping & Packing List
Participants will be camping outdoors, with temperatures potentially dropping to freezing at night and rising to 70–80°F during the day. Prepare for rain as well. Training will continue in any weather conditions so please plan accordingly.
Camping facilities:
- Grass lawn tent area
- Restrooms & showers are available at the fairgrounds

Glenns Ferry, ID has limited shopping options, and there will be limited/no time for supply runs during camp.
Pack Test Preparation (May 3rd)
Test Details:
- 3-mile walk on flat ground carrying 45 lbs.
- Must complete in under 45 minutes
If you are new to completing the pack test, focus on maintaining a pace of 15 min per mile. We recommend:
- Start without weight until you establish pace.
- Once consistent, gradually add weight (increase by 10 lbs. per week).
- Maintain pace before progressing to the next weight level.
